The term of office shall be six years.<\/p>\n<p>The Faculty Athletic Representative assists the President as an adviser on athletic matters,\u00a0certifies the academic eligibility of athletes, and serves as an ex-officio member of the Student\u00a0Life Committee. The Faculty Athletic Representative is automatically a member of the\u00a0governing board of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). This Board,\u00a0whose voting membership is composed solely of the Faculty Athletic Representatives from the\u00a0member schools, has final responsibility for policies concerning the conduct of intercollegiate\u00a0athletics among the member schools. It holds regular meetings twice a year, plus special\u00a0meetings as required.
