In 1994, the program was expanded and renamed the Buntrock Academic Scholarship Program in honor of the many accomplishments and contributions to the college made by alumnus Dean L. Buntrock &#8217;57, his wife, Rosemarie, and his brother Clayton &#8217;59.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Academic Awards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>St. Olaf awards academic scholarships in six&nbsp;tiers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The<strong> Buntrock Scholarship<\/strong>, recognizing students with outstanding academic accomplishment and exemplary achievement across many facets of the high school experience;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Regents Scholarship<\/strong>, recognizing students with outstanding academic accomplishment;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Presidential Scholarship<\/strong>, recognizing salutary academic achievement;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The&nbsp;<strong>Dean\u2019s Scholarship<\/strong>, recognizing a strong and sustained academic achievement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Faculty Scholarship<\/strong>, recognizing a balanced record of consistent academic achievement; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The&nbsp;<strong>St. Olaf Scholarship<\/strong>, recognizing academic achievement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All students receiving an Academic Merit Scholarship will also receive a $4,000 St Olaf Campus Housing Scholarship that stacks on top of the academic scholarship.\u00a0Academic Merit Scholarships range from $17,000 to $34,000. The total value of both the Academic Merit Scholarships and the Campus Living Scholarships range from $21,000 to $38,000. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligibility for all academic scholarships is based on information provided in the Common Application, including test scores (if the students chooses to submit test scores), high school transcripts, and letters of recommendation. These awards will be specified in the letter of admission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A distinguishing feature of St. Olaf\u2019s academic scholarship program is its emphasis on academic accomplishment in combination with other kinds of involvement and achievement. Acknowledging the differing grading practices and standards among high schools, we do not set minimum criteria for scholarship candidates and instead evaluate a student\u2019s academic performance and potential on a holistic and individual basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students interested in being considered for all St. Olaf scholarships, including academic scholarships, must submit a complete&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/admissions\/apply\/\">application for admission<\/a>. Submission deadlines are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Early Decision 1 \u2013 November 1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Early Action &#8211; November 1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Early Decision 2 \u2013 January&nbsp;15<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regular Decision \u2013 January 15<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: Students seeking consideration for merit scholarships <strong>only <\/strong>do not need to complete the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/\">Free Application for Federal Student Aid&nbsp;(FAFSA)<\/a> or the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cssprofile.collegeboard.org\/\">CSS PROFILE<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All students applying for need-based financial aid in addition to any merit scholarships must complete the FAFSA application to be eligible for federal funding and the CSS PROFILE to be eligible for St. Olaf institutional funding.
