Lugo&#8217;s work\u00a0<\/span><\/i><i>draws together\u00a0<\/i><i>hip-hop, history and politics into formal ceramics an<\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">d 2D works. Born in Kensington, Philadelphia to Puerto Rican parents, Lugo began his career as a graffiti artist before discovering ceramics. Lugo holds a BFA from the Kansas City\u00a0<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Art Institute and an MFA from Penn State. He has exhibited internationally and has work in the collections of the High Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and more.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong>EVENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Opening Recept<\/strong><strong>ion <\/strong><br \/>\nThursday, February 21, 2019<br \/>\n7\u20139 p.m. with remarks at 7:30 p.m.<br \/>\nFlaten Art Museum, Center for Art and Dance<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWE\u201d Project presents <em>Traveling Perspectives<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nThursday, February 28, 5:15 \u2013 5:45 p.m.<br \/>\nThis site-specific work centers movement in an interdisciplinary dialogue about learning and living that connects individual and collective experiences. Students Yuhe Zhen, Zhenning Wang, Catreena Nunez, Khanthida Mounivong,\u00a0 Kgomotso Magagula, and Emily Johnston will perform with Visiting Assistant Professor of Dance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stolaf.edu\/profile\/willia26\">Arneshia\u00a0Williams<\/a> in the gallery. This piece interweaves the academic discipline of Dance with several themes across Visual Art, Race and Ethnic Studies, Religion, and Gender and Sexuality.\u00a0Following the performance, join performers for a discussion.
