Smith\u2019s lecture will expand upon his new essay on McCormick and Calhoun\u2019s photographs, which accompanies the Flaten Art Museum exhibition <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/flaten\/we-no-longer-consider-them-damaged\/\"><em>We No Longer Consider Them Damaged<\/em><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smith received his MA in American Studies and his BA in English and African American Studies from Saint Louis University.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smith\u2019s research interests lie in American art, material culture, and the built environment.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Smith most recently curated <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Looming Chaos<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the Zuckerman Museum of Art as an inaugural Tina Dunkley Fellow at Clark Atlanta University Art Museum. The 2020 exhibition featured the fiber abstractions of Atlanta based artist Zipporah Camille Thompson.
