Creation of the Gender and Sexuality Office
Following the recommendations of the Title IX Working Group, the college created the role of Coordinator of Gender and Sexuality (CGS) in the fall of 2016. This role was filled as a part-time position by an Area Coordinator also working in Residence Life. The CGS worked in the Gender and Sexuality Office (GSO), along with a student work study position, to provide support on campus through programming and education. The CGS worked in this capacity until January of 2018.
Transition to Gender and Sexuality Center
In the summer of 2018, the Assistant Director of Student Activities for Wellness moved from a 10-month contract to a 12-month contract in order to assume the responsibilities for gender and sexuality on campus. This included a title change to Assistant Director for Wellness, Gender and Sexuality. During this time, the student organization overseeing the Gender and Sexuality Center (GSC) in Ytterboe Hall choose not to continue as a group on campus. Following this decision, the Assistant Director for Wellness, Gender and Sexuality renamed the GSO to the GSC and moved the space into Buntrock Commons 112 to share space with the Wellness Center.
Move Into the Taylor Center for Equity and Inclusion
In January of 2019, the GSC and the work of gender and sexuality moved into the Taylor Center for Equity and Inclusion.
