BCSSE is paired with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nsse.indiana.edu\/nsse\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Survey of Student Engagement<\/a>, which is administered later in the academic year to the same cohort of first-years, as well as to seniors. BCSSE is administered by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cpr.indiana.edu\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>BCSSE results and reports<\/h3>\n<p>St. Olaf has participated in BCSSE since Fall 2007. We receive a variety of reports comparing our students\u2019 responses with those of students at peer institutions.\u00a0We also receive an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nsse.indiana.edu\/bcsse\/reports-data\/advising-ir-report-examples\/first-year-advising-report.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">advising report<\/a>\u00a0for each participating student, which we share with students\u2019 faculty advisors.\u00a0 BCSSE results have been used at St. Olaf to inform faculty development programs, guide academic advising, and inform programs for incoming first-years.<\/p>\n<div id=\"content\" class=\"hfeed\">\n<div class=\"post-420 page type-page status-publish hentry entry\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h4>Fall 2020 results<\/h4>\n<p><em>In Fall 2020, BCSSE was completed by 550 (73%) of the 754 incoming first-year students. Results suggest that incoming first-years performed well academically during high school and feel prepared to succeed at St. Olaf. They have high expectations for campus support both academically and socially.
