Adding Questions to a Quiz

Creating a quiz on Moodle is a two or three part process. It requires:

  1. Creating a quiz shell.
  2. (Optional) Adding questions to the question bank.
  3. Populating the quiz shell with questions.

This page will guide you through the last step, adding questions to the quiz shell. It is easiest to add new questions directly to the quiz shell. New questions added to a quiz are automatically stored in the question bank. Unless you are reusing questions, it is not necessary to wander through the question bank. The guide below will explain how to add new questions to a quiz and how to reuse old questions.

How do I add new questions to a quiz?

  1. Navigate to your Moodle site and turn editing on.
  2. Locate the quiz to be edited. Select Edit, then Edit settings.Screenshot of a Moodle course with arrow pointing to an editing drop down menu

Instructions to create all types are covered in this documentation. The most commonly used question, and perhaps most important to learn about, is the multiple choice question.
