St. Olaf’s current phone (PBX) system is very old, is starting to fail, and needs to be replaced. There will be some differences between the two systems, but IT is working diligently to ensure a smooth and successful transition.
This new phone system uses digital technology called Voice over IP (VoIP) to place calls using a network connection instead of dedicated phone lines. By doing this, you can make and receive calls using a physical desktop phone or a software application (called a softphone) on your computer, laptop, or iPad.
