The College maintains an instance of RStudio Server Pro for any courses that would like to use R for course work. R Servers are currently maintained by St. Olaf IT.
What is RStudio Server?
RStudio Server is the web-based cousin of RStudio. Server provides all of the same features as RStudio with the ability of allowing users to access work from any available web browser. St Olaf College provides access to Server Pro, enabling increase abilities of the program such as running multiple sessions of R at the same time, project sharing and editing, and enhanced security.
For Course RStudio Use
To request your course be added to the R Server, fill out the RStudio Server Request form. Classes will be added to the IT-managed RStudio server which has a 1gb soft quota and 20gb hard quota per user. User accounts will also be cleared annually during the summer months (except for summer session courses using the server).
Faculty are expected to provide students support in the use of RStudio for class purposes as IT does not have the expertise to support this.
To report server issues or lack of access, fill out the RStudio Server Issues form.
For Curricular or Undergraduate Research Uses
To gain access to R Studio for research projects or advanced curricular (independent studies, individual research, etc.) contact the IT Helpdesk to gain access to the Roar (roar.stolaf.edu) R Studio research server.
*Update Summer 2022: The CS R Server is no longer available for research projects. The research server is now hosted by IT.*
