Friday, September 13: Kari Lie Dorer<\/strong> presented\u00a0Bernt Julius Muus: What do you know about the man with the Shiny Nose<\/strong> at 5 PM to 6:30PM\u00a0 in Tomson 280. Kari presented about the founder of the College and why we talk so little about him on campus.<\/p>\n

Friday, October 4: Andrea Conger <\/strong>presented\u00a0The New Athletic Girl: Physical Education and Female Sporting Bodies on the Hill<\/strong> . Dr. Andrea Conger presented on a brief history of women’s athletics and physical education at St. Olaf (ski jumping behind Old Main!) putting it into larger social\/cultural contexts. The talk included some of the work Andrea is doing for the Honest Storytelling Project considering St. Olaf’s commitment to “educating the whole person” and offered the audience a chance to consider the role of physical activity in higher ed and an increasingly digital world.<\/p>\n

Friday, October 4: Rehanna Kheshgi<\/strong> presented Risks and Rewards: Connecting with Communities Beyond Campus <\/b>\u00a0Dr. Rehanna Kheshgi talked about how taking risks to build mutually beneficial relationships with communities beyond campus has the potential to deepen and enrich our learning about ourselves and others, to prepare students for life after graduation, and to create a positive impact here and now. The talk drew on some of the work Rehanna is doing for the Honest Storytelling Project that focuses on community engagement through music at St. Olaf, especially in Islamic contexts.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, October 23: Jaden Janak and Averill Earls<\/strong> hosted a panel on Queering The Archives<\/strong> in the King’s Dining Room. The panel discussion highlighted how we queer (as a verb) archival practices and preserving queer (noun\/adjective) histories.<\/p>\n

Kari Lie Dorer<\/strong> presented her research on Bernt and Oline Muus<\/strong> at two local bookshops.

2025<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Eric Becklin<\/b> presented Broadening Vision: The Complexity of St. Olaf\u2019s Early Chinese Students and Lutheran Missions, 1918-1948 <\/strong>on May 5 at Northfield Public Library.<\/p>\n

On Our Minds\u00a0<\/em>was the public art exhibition featuring the powerful work of student artists from ART 240B: Art in Public Space<\/strong>. Many of the art projects were inspired by the writings for the Honest Storytelling Project.<\/div>\n

Kaethe Schwehn’s<\/strong> students read from a collaborative essay. The students in the course interviewed current female-identified Oles and then used those accounts to create a portrait of life on the Hill in 2025. Their essay is modeled after the one Kaethe wrote for the Honest Storytelling Project. This took place in the Norway Room on May 14.<\/div>\n
