All music major applicants will be automatically considered for scholarships.<br \/>We would like to encourage you to consider a work by composers from historically underrepresented groups.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Jazz Saxophone:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Two Jazz Standards<\/b>: Perform two contrasting jazz standards with a play-along track or live accompaniment. Play the melody and improvise. A jazz standard is a tune performed and recorded frequently by established jazz artists. Please limit each selection to no more than three minutes. F<i>or example, you could perform a blues piece and another standard.<\/i><\/li>\n<li><b>Solo Transcription<\/b>: Perform a transcription of a solo by an established jazz saxophonist along with the recording. You may slow the tempo if needed. While a transcription typically refers to a written solo, it\u2019s not required to be written down\u2014you can play it by ear.<\/li>\n<li>If you have any questions, please contact Director of Jazz Ensembles Dr. Joseph L.
