Presidential Search Committee seeks survey feedback

St. Olaf students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and community members are invited to weigh in on the search for the college’s next president by responding to a survey.

The survey, which is open until February 25, is one of several ways the Presidential Search Committee and St. Olaf’s selected search firm, Storbeck Search, are gathering feedback from the community. Suggestions and ideas gathered through this process will be shared with the full Presidential Search Committee. President David R. Anderson ’74,  announced in May 2021 that he would step down at the end of the 2022-23 academic year.

The survey was announced by Presidential Search Committee Chair Stephanie Fehr ’87, whose message to the community is below.

Dear St. Olaf Community,

As the chair of St. Olaf’s Presidential Search Committee, I am writing to provide an update on the search process to find a successor for President Anderson upon his retirement at the end of the 2022-23 academic year. There are various upcoming opportunities for you to share your input.

The Board of Regents concluded its winter meeting last Friday, where it heard from  Storbeck Search, the firm that the college has engaged to lead the process. Over the next month, Storbeck Search will lead community engagement efforts that will guide its development of a candidate profile. A brief online survey is also open now for you to share your thoughts on the qualities that you would like to see in St. Olaf’s next president. Please take 5-10 minutes to complete this survey by Friday, February 25. We’d love to hear from as many of you as possible. Your comments will be shared directly with the members of the search committee.

Presidential Search webpage is now available for you to learn more about the search process, timeline and search committee members. This page will be updated as more information is available.

As we prepare to transition from almost two decades of David Anderson’s incredible leadership, we are excited to begin the search for our next leader, who will guide St. Olaf into the future. We are looking forward to engaging the St. Olaf community in this important process and will continue to provide updates on the search and future engagement opportunities over the coming months.

Regards,

Stephanie Fehr ’87, Chair
