This course starts students on the road to achieving such a proficiency. Students begin learning to speak, understand, read, and write Norwegian and learn about Norwegian culture through the language. Offered annually in the Fall Semester. Norwegian 111 is a first semester Norwegian course and focuses on introductory Norwegian vocabulary, structures, and culture.<\/p>\n<p>We use the <em>Sett i gang<\/em> curriculum in this course, both the print textbook and the online portal.\u00a0 To learn more about this curriculum package can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.settigang.com\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Typically we have between 75-100 students enrolled in first semester in multiple sections of Norwegian each semester.<\/p>\n<p>The topics we will be studying are identity, education, food and eating habits, leisure, daily life, seasons.<br \/>\nDetailed information on course assignments can be found on <a href=\"http:\/\/moodle.stolaf.edu\/\">Moodle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!-- begin-migrated-from-panel-builder --><!-- end-migrated-from-panel-builder --><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Proficiency in a second language opens the door to another culture and another way of viewing the world.
