Registered Nursing Assistant + Home Health Aide Certification
Registered Nursing Assistant (NAR) course certification and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Nursing Assistant registration are required prior to starting the St. Olaf Nursing Program. You will need to provide documentation of the course name, location, and date of completion as well as documentation of verification of MDH Nursing Assistant Registration.
Colleges, hospitals, and Red Cross offices offer certificate programs. Finding a course, obtaining NAR certification, and registering with the MDH are your responsibility. If you plan to take a course outside of Minnesota, you must check with the MDH to make sure it is a course they will accept. Visit the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) website here.
Northfield Retirement Community (NRC) offers a course that many St. Olaf nursing majors take. All information, including upcoming course dates, times, and course fee is available on their website. Registration is required. Registration fees are waived for NRC employees.
Students may be able to use loan funds to cover the cost of a NAR course. Please contact the St. Olaf Financial Aid Office for more information.
