{"id":1408,"date":"2019-10-31T14:42:12","date_gmt":"2019-10-31T19:42:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/nursing\/?page_id=1408"},"modified":"2025-06-13T16:36:48","modified_gmt":"2025-06-13T21:36:48","slug":"admission-progression-dismissal","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/nursing\/admission-progression-dismissal\/","title":{"rendered":"Admission Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-modular-content-collection><p>St. Olaf offers two opportunities for prospective students to apply for admission to the nursing program.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Direct Admission:<\/strong>\u00a0 students intending to major in nursing at the time of application to St. Olaf College may be considered for direct admission.\u00a0 This allows first-year students to apply directly from high school.\u00a0 Students who wish to apply for direct admission must first apply to St. Olaf College via the Common Application or Coalition Application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: initial;\"><strong>Regular Admission:\u00a0<\/strong> students enrolled at St. Olaf may apply to the nursing program during the fall semester of their sophomore year.\u00a0 Communication about the application process will be sent to students who have expressed an interest in nursing and are listed as applicants with the nursing department.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Students are encouraged to express an interest in the nursing major upon application for admission to St. Olaf College.\u00a0 Please visit <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/admissions\/apply\/\">Apply-Admissions<\/a> for more information and the nursing application.\u00a0 It is advised that you apply as early as possible.\u00a0 Direct Admission is limited and competitive.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Should I apply Direct Admission or Regular Admission?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Direct admission requires a couple of additional steps that occur when you apply to St. Olaf.\u00a0 If you are granted direct admission, you must maintain the required cumulative and prerequisite GPA.\u00a0 Other criteria must also be met.\u00a0 Direct admission in no way binds you to your choice.\u00a0 At St. Olaf, we are committed to helping you identify your passion.\u00a0 If you discover it is something other than nursing, we will help you find that path.<\/p>\n<p>Regular admission occurs in the fall semester of the sophomore year.\u00a0 Students not accepted for direct admission or students who develop their passion for the nursing major while at St. Olaf are welcome to apply at that time.\u00a0 To be granted regular admission, you must maintain the required cumulative and prerequisite GPA.\u00a0 Other criteria must also be met.<\/p>\n<p>Please review the <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/nursing\/files\/2025\/04\/Nursing-Planning-Sheet.pdf\">Nursing Planning Sheet<\/a>\u00a0for assistance with your planning process.\u00a0 Also, click on the &#8220;Majors, Concentrations&#8221; tab to be directed to the Academic Catalog.\u00a0 The Academic Catalog has detailed information regarding the nursing major.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conditional Acceptance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Conditional acceptance to the nursing program for all applicants (direct and regular admission) will become final only if students meet certain criteria prior to the fall semester of their junior year.<\/p>\n<p>Admission decision letters are provided to applicants to the nursing program every January.\u00a0 Conditional acceptance to the nursing program is necessary in order to matriculate in the spring semester, 200-level nursing courses required for the major.<\/p>\n<p>The nursing major begins in the spring semester of the sophomore year.<\/p>\n<p><!-- begin-migrated-from-panel-builder --><!-- end-migrated-from-panel-builder --><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>St. Olaf offers two opportunities for prospective students to apply for admission to the nursing program.
