And one of the indications of your being part of a broader St. Olaf community is that each graduate philosophy major who visits will receive a huge welcome; each of you are invited to attend our Belgum Lectures and any colloquium taking place. And if graduates have pursued philosophy professionally, we would love to discuss ways in which you might return to campus to meet with current majors, to offer a paper for a seminar, or simply talk philosophy over coffee or what our President refers to as “an adult beverage.”

Recent Alumni News:

Meredith Varies ’16 Publishes Chapters in Books

Maredith Varie ’17 co-authored two chapters included in a recently published book titled The Palgrave Handbook of the Philosophy of Aging. The chapters are titled “Aging in Religious Perspective,” and “Wisdom and Aging.” Professor Charles Talaiferro was the other co-author.

She has also co authored a chapter with Charles Talaiferro in Creativity and Philosophy, published by Routledge.

Douglas Koons ’71 Awarded 2016 Outstanding Service Award from St. Olaf

Douglas Koons ’71 and his wife Jane Becker Koons ’71 have been awarded a 2016 Outstanding Service Award from St. Olaf College.
