St. Olaf College\u2019s Svoboda Legal Scholars Program offers an opportunity for a select group of undergraduate students to perform intensive legal research and\/or to serve in a legal support role in several social impact-oriented legal clinics. During the summer of 2026, students worked in clinics at the University of Minnesota Law School, Mitchell Hamline School of Law, University of St. Thomas School of Law, University of Wisconsin Law School, University of Notre Dame Law School, Northwestern Pritzer School of Law, and Legal Aid D.C. in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students will have the opportunity to contribute to the work of a clinic under the direction of the clinic director\/member of the law school faculty. Through this program, students will become more knowledgeable about the field of law and legal services while providing valuable contributions to diverse, under-resourced populations. This program is supported by the generosity of Paul Svoboda \u201981.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During February of each academic year, St. Olaf confirms with the schools and clinics whether they will participate in the Legal Scholars program during the upcoming summer. To find out which schools will be participating, please keep an eye on the Svoboda Legal Scholars website during February, as we expect to update the list by the end of that month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students will apply through Handshake in late February, after which a committee of St. Olaf faculty and staff will choose a group of semi-finalists. The Piper Center will send the semi-finalists\u2019 applications to the clinics, with the clinics themselves choosing the students with whom they\u2019d like to work. Some clinics require interviews. Most do not. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
