Avoid connections with strangers<\/li>\n<li>Create connections that will be professional and mutually beneficial<\/li>\n<li>Consider ignoring requests that you fit your interests and values. It\u2019s okay to do so<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>Note<\/h6>\n<p>LinkedIn supports and shows connections ONLY up to three degrees of separation from you, or a connection of a connection of a connection. Beyond the third degree, the relationship is no longer trustworthy.<\/p>\n<h3>To \u201cget introduced\u201d to someone within three degrees of connection,<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Open the person\u2019s profile<\/li>\n<li>Find the arrow next to the \u201cSend InMail\u201d button<\/li>\n<li>Scroll over the mouse to find the option to \u201cGet Introduced\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Click \u201cGet Introduced\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Name the person from your network whom you\u2019d like to introduce you<\/li>\n<li>Write a note that explains your interests and why this introduction is beneficial.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>To make even more valuable connections, try<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Learning about industry insider tips and skills<\/strong>. View an organization\u2019s profile. Click on \u201cInsights\u201d to learn about the \u201cTops Skills and Expertise\u201d of employees in that organization as as well as others. \u201cFollow\u201d an organization to see job postings<\/li>\n<li><strong>Researching organizations.\u00a0<\/strong>View an organization\u2019s pages and their employees to see their location, previous employers, schools and languages spoken.
