The student interns will primarily spend time with physicians (Marc Tompkins, MD, &#8217;99, and Peter Stiles, MD, &#8217;05), but will also learn from physicians assistants, nurses, technicians, and clinic staff, throughout their daily activities in pertinent and approved settings.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Experiences will be planned according to TRIA\u2019s educational policy, which protects patients\u2019 rights to privacy under HIPAA.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Areas of exposure may include:<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Orthopedic surgery in the operating room and clinic settings<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interventional pain management in the procedure suite and clinic settings<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sports medicine<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pre- and post-operative care<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mental Health\/Behavioral care<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Radiology\/imaging<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nursing care<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Frontline staff\/call center<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Integrative health, potentially including therapeutic yoga, healing touch, guided imagery, and more<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Administration<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The student intern will keep journals detailing their observations and their interpretation of and reactions to these observations. Additionally, the students will be expected to spend some time researching a topic pertinent to modern healthcare. Toward the end of the month, they will have a dedicated meeting with Dr. Tompkins and Dr. Stiles to discuss the topic and how it may impact their future career. <\/span>The selected student will enroll in the an Internship and Reflection Seminar course for the month of January and receive one J-term credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div><strong>Deadline to apply: Monday, October 13th, 2025 @ 11:59pm.<\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div><strong>Students selected for an interview will be notified via email and will sign up for an interview slot via Handshake.
