{"id":26385,"date":"2019-11-22T09:04:15","date_gmt":"2019-11-22T15:04:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/pipercenter\/?page_id=26385"},"modified":"2024-07-29T11:39:57","modified_gmt":"2024-07-29T16:39:57","slug":"clinical-health-care-interim-internship","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/pipercenter\/clinical-health-care-interim-internship\/","title":{"rendered":"Clinical Healthcare Interim Internship"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-modular-content-collection><p><b>Program Goals:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To provide pre-health students with a realistic view of modern medical practices in a clinic setting.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To inform students about potential future careers in health care through extended, meaningful, and direct exposure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To ease students&#8217; transition into further education\/experiences through knowledge gained during the program.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two (2) St. Olaf student interns will explore numerous departments and aspects involved in delivering care to patients in a clinic setting through association with various health care providers and staff at the Allina Clinic in Northfield, MN, during interim 2020. The student interns will spend time with physicians, nurses, technicians, and clinic staff throughout their daily activities in pertinent and approved settings. Experiences will be planned according to Allina Clinic\u2019s policy, which protects patients\u2019 rights to privacy under HIPAA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Areas of exposure include:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Call center\/reception<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gastroenterology<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">General Surgery<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mental Health<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Radiology\/imaging<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lab<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Family Practice<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sports medicine<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Administration<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Various roles including MD, DO, NP, PA, RN, CMA, LP<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><em>PLEASE NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this program has been on hold for 2021-2022. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- begin-migrated-from-panel-builder --><!-- end-migrated-from-panel-builder --><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Program Goals: To provide pre-health students with a realistic view of modern medical practices in a clinic setting.
