Students will be introduced to each of the following materials (and, the affiliated safety measures) during the first week of the program. Each student will have the opportunity to choose one material to build a final prototype or project.<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h5>Wood Working<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>Modeling (epoxy casting, fiber board, layered laser cuttings)<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>Additive Manufacturing<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>Metals &amp; Welding<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Basic building skills allow students to design and fabricate a wide variety of projects using a broadly available range of materials. Equally important, these skills form a foundation for learning to safely and effectively use a broad array of machining tools appropriate for machining any materials, including wood, metals, and available<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>Gain an understanding of how to choose your machine and your material for best outcomes<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>Find \/ create designs and files of useful and buildable items hand drawing and CAD work<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>Understand when to borrow and modify and when to start from scratch, when designing<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>Develop an understanding of how to design around a product defect when repairing a broken item by building your own better part.<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>Develop a working knowledge of machine maintenance care and<\/h5>\n<h5>troubleshooting<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>Gain an understanding of safety in power tool usage and how to select a machine for the specific
