Professor Lott joined the department as an Assistant Professor of Political Science in 2005. He received his Ph.D. in International Studies at the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Denver in 2002. He is the author of Creating Insecurity: Realism, Constructivism, and U.S. Security Policy (Aldershot, Hants, England, 2004), and of numerous articles in political science and law journals. His research interests include an exploration of norms and interests in international relations theory, cooperation in global environmental politics, and national and international security policy. Prior to his appointment at St. Olaf, Professor Lott taught at Portland State University, Hamline University, and the University of Glasgow.
