In the event of any active shooter or attacker, a rapid response by local law enforcement to the scene and communication from the College to the community by OleAlert would occur.\u00a0 Initial alert messages would be followed by critical information and regular updates.<\/h2>\n

What Is ALICE?<\/strong><\/p>\n

ALICE is the original civilian active shooter response training program delivered with a trauma-informed approach.<\/p>\n

Public Safety staff are available to any Faculty, Staff or Student group that would like to learn more about how to respond to threats on campus.<\/p>\n

A typical ALICE training consists of a 2-3 hour classroom instructional session followed by a 2-3 hour practical session where scenario-based training is used to reinforce the material covered in the classroom training session. <\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

ALICE<\/strong><\/p>\n

A<\/strong><\/em>
\nAlert \u2013 Be aware of your surroundings and recognize signs of danger through your senses or notifications like mobile alerts and announcements.<\/p>\n

L<\/strong><\/em>
\nLockdown \u2013 ALICE\u2019s enhanced lockdown strategy buys time and fortifies safety when evacuation isn\u2019t possible, keeping individuals secure until help arrives.<\/p>\n

I<\/strong><\/em>
\nInform \u2013 Real-time information saves lives. Sharing accurate, timely details with those in danger\u2014such as intruder location or movement\u2014helps guide decision-making.<\/p>\n

C<\/strong><\/em>
\nCounter \u2013 As a last resort, Counter involves creating noise, movement, and distraction to disrupt the intruder\u2019s focus. It is not synonymous with fighting.<\/p>\n

E<\/strong><\/em>
\nEvacuate \u2013 If safe, evacuate to distance yourself from the threat, using any available exits and moving to designated rally points, which should be practiced during drills.<\/p>\n

ALICE Training\u00ae is not designed to be sequential nor is it meant to be a checklist. ALICE teaches response options that can be used to stay safe in the event of a violent critical incident (VCI).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
