Summer Registration for St. Olaf Students

Summer Session registration begins March 1, 2018 online through the student’s S.I.S. account. A $50 nonrefundable deposit is required per session payable through the registration form.  Tuition must be paid by the first day of class, or suitable payment arrangements made with Student Accounts. No student will be allowed to attend summer classes unless properly registered. Once your deposit has been made your summer courses will be added to the S.I.S. Students can register for up to 2.50 credits per term.

Registration is a contract with St. Olaf College to pay all tuition charges and complete the course. Register early to avoid course cancellation.

Registration – Summer Music Lessons:

Students taking Performance Studies Lessons during Summer Session must follow these steps:

  1. Sign up for lessons at the Music Office (not online)
  2. Pay $50.00 non-refundable deposit online.
  3. Tuition is billed through Student Accounts

The above steps must be taken before the summer term begins.

Course Cancellation Policy:

The decision to cancel a course is made at the end of the first day of class for Term 1 and Term 2.  If the course has not met the minimum enrollment designated by the instructor, then the course will be cancelled upon consultation between the instructor and summer school coordinator.

If a course is cancelled, the student may register for another course by completing a drop/add slip and obtaining the signature of the instructor of the newly added course.  If the student determines no other course meets his/her course needs then the $50 deposit will be refunded if registered at 1.00 credit.  This is the only circumstance where the deposit is refundable.

Early registration is important for our planning purposes. It also allows faculty to order textbooks early which benefits all enrolled students.

Calendar/Course Load:

The Summer Sessions calendar has two terms. A student may take a maximum of 2.50 course credits during each term. No exceptions allowed to this maximum.

  • Term 1: June 4-July 12 (finals); no classes July 4
  • Term 2: July 16-August 22 (finals)

Class Periods:

Period 1: 8:00-9:30 a.m.
Period 2: 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Period 3: 12:30-2:00 p.m.
Period 4: 2:30-4:00 p.m.
