The Nordic studies major provides students with a foundation of Norwegian language knowledge and skills. From there, students undertake coursework that situates Norway within the broader social and cultural region of the Nordic countries. Students with previous Norwegian learning experience must take the online placement exam to determine in which class level they should begin.<\/p>\n<h6>CREDIT FOR PREVIOUS COURSEWORK<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>Credit for transfer courses or other programs is done in consultation with the Registrar, the Norwegian Placement Director and Nordic Studies Director.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>Placement<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>Students must follow their placement results provided by the department and found on the Student Information System (SIS).<\/li>\n<li>Students
