The practice of mathematics combines the aesthetic appeal of creating patterns of ideas with the utilitarian appeal of applications of these same ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Mathematics is all the things noted above and more at St. Olaf, where the mathematics program is recognized nationally for innovative and effective teaching.\u00a0 Students arrange a major in mathematics by developing an Individualized Mathematics Proposal (IMaP).\u00a0 An IMaP outlines a complete, coherent program of study consistent with the goals of the individual an A on Cambridge A-Level Math.<\/li>\n<li>Credit for transfer courses or other programs is done in consultation with the Registrar, the Mathematics Placement Director, and\/or MSCS
