How to Sign Up for Housing

You received an email link address in your acceptance letter that allows you to fill out your roommate preferences online. This is a good chance to tell us about yourself: what time you go to bed, your musical tastes, allergies you might have, etc. In order for us to make the best possible assignment, please provide us with as much information as you can. Every effort will be make to honor your requests.

If you have a medical condition or needs that require special housing accommodations, mail appropriate documentation and a letter explaining the needs to or to the address below by June 1. We don’t typically accept roommate requests unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Roommate matching policy

St. Olaf College welcomes students from everywhere.  You may be matched with students from another state or from another country.  St. Olaf College is committed to maintaining an inclusive atmosphere in which race, creed, religion, color, national origin/ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, status with regard to public assistance or disability, are respected and not disparaged.  Our intention is to match students who may have varied experiences in order to form a rich and diverse community.  With that intent we do not match students together who are in similar conversation programs, athletic teams, or music ensembles.

Things you may want to bring to St. Olaf

Now that you have decided to go to college, you need to start preparing to bring all of the items you will need to outfit your residence hall room. Prepare for Move-In is a page with a list of suggested items you should bring as well as some items you may not bring.  The college provides one refrigerator/microwave unit in every residence hall room for student use.  Students may not bring their own.
