The resources listed below are just a few of the available services to survivors of sexual misconduct or interpersonal violence. After your immediate safety needs have been met, these are great resources and services to pursue to ensure your health and wellbeing.
The HOPE Center is a sexual and domestic violence support organization serving all of Rice County. They offer services including support groups, educational resources, and crisis counseling (including safe-housing, legal guidance, SANE exam support, and more). Contact the HOPE Center by calling their office at 507-332-0882 (9:00 am-4:00 pm Monday-Friday) or their safeline at 1-800-607-2330 (24/7).
Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE):
SANE exams are conducted by registered nurses with specialized training in care for survivors of sexual violence or abuse. SANE evidentiary exams collect forensic evidence (documentation of physical evidence of assault), provide a wellness check by assessing potential injuries or other post-assault health concerns, treat for potential STIs, provide crisis intervention counseling, and offer emergency contraceptives. Call the Northfield Hospital Emergency Department (507-646-1100) and let them know you are on your way and would like to see a SANE Nurse. Public Safety can also provide rides to and from the hospital if needed (507-786-3666).
National Sexual Assault Hotline:
RAINN and the National Sexual Assault Hotline provide confidential support and counseling, can assist in finding a local health facility to receive a SANE exam, can locate local healing and recovery resources, offer referrals for long-term support, inform you about the legal policies and laws in your area, and answer information about medical concerns. Call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 800-656-4673.
Safe Housing:
If you are in need of a safe place to stay, check out the Minnesota shelters and centers listed below or contact the HOPE Center for more options.
