Our terminology is changing, too! All St. Olaf sites should now refer to:<\/p>\n

  • The Smith Center for Global Engagement (formerly International and Off-Campus Studies or IOS)<\/li>\n
  • Study Abroad (international programs)<\/li>\n
  • Study Away (U.S. programs)<\/li>\n
  • Academic Civic Engagement or ACE (no change in terminology)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
    Anywhere your site refers to International and Off-Campus Studies or IOS (the office) please use the Smith Center for Global Engagement or just the Smith Center (do not use SCGE).\u00a0 Notes:<\/div>\n

    • Use a capital T in “the” only when starting a sentence<\/li>\n
    • Where the Smith Center is the subject or object<\/em> in a sentence:\n
        \n
      • In formal contexts<\/em> or with the first use on a web page, please use “the Smith Center for Global Engagement” (ex: Louis and Mary Kay Smith endowed the Smith Center for Global Engagement)<\/li>\n
