Connect with your host university\u2019s Disability Accommodations Office or communicate with your host family for accommodations with documented dietary allergies. Whether or not a student is abroad\/away with a university or host family, it is the student\u2019s responsibility, as the expert on navigating their allergy, to take similar steps as they would at home: plan and prepare, be flexible, ask questions to verify, and have a plan or medications on hand <\/span>at all times for any allergic reaction.<\/span><\/p>\n

You should be able to use your language skills to ask which ingredients are used in dishes, communicate what your allergies are, what an allergic reaction involves, and ask to be taken to a hospital in case of an emergency.<\/span><\/p>\n
