Each payment received, helps future international students have the option to borrow.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Exit Counseling<\/h3>\n<p>Exit counseling is required by law. Exit counseling provides important information that you will need as you prepare to repay your loan. During exit counseling you will review the terms and conditions that apply to your loan, be introduced to your prepayment plan and learn important information to avoid default. The purpose of exit counseling is to ensure you know your rights and responsibilities as a loan borrower who must begin repaying the loan back within 6 months of departing St. Olaf.<\/p>\n<p>Loan exit counseling is required by any student who is dropping below half time, withdrawing from St Olaf, taking a leave of absence, transferring, or graduating from St. Olaf College. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Graduating students will not receive their diploma until their exit counseling is done.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Students can complete exit counseling online by following the steps below:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sign in or create an <a href=\"https:\/\/heartland.ecsi.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESCI<\/a> account.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Click on \u201cConnect An Account\u201d and provide your Heartland Key. <\/span>You will be redirected once this is complete.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Select the school name, then click \u201cView Account\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Your exit interview will be listed under the \u201cDocuments\u201d tab.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Reach out to ECSI\/Heartland directly with any questions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; background-color: #e4a01b; padding: 20px; border-radius: 15px;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center; color: #242121; margin-bottom: 10px;\"><i><b>You MUST change your contact information during the exit counseling process. Do NOT list your St. Olaf email or physical address as your contact information.<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t keep your contact information up to date and the servicer or college is unable to reach you regarding your loan, your account may be placed with an outside collection agency which can negatively impact your credit.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Repayment<\/h3>\n<p>College loan borrowers have a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>six month grace period after graduating or withdrawing before the payments begin<\/strong><strong>. The first required payment occurs in the seventh month after leaving St. Olaf.<\/strong> <\/span>There is no penalty for repaying early.<\/p>\n<p>The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>repayment period is generally five years<\/strong><\/span>, but it may vary depending on your monthly payments. The specific payment schedule is provided during the exit process.
