It is highly recommended that all courses approved as part of the OLE Core general education curriculum include the relevant intended learning outcomes (ILOs) on the syllabus. In addition, the following are several suggested statements that faculty members may choose to include on their course syllabi. If individual faculty members have alternative texts of these statements, or other statements they would like to share, they can send them to the chair of the Student Life Committee.<\/p>\n

The Writing Desk: Peer tutors at the Writing Desk offer help with any paper, in any class, at any stage of the writing process. Some tutors are also trained to offer additional support in speaking and research. Resources for Developing AI Policy\u00a0(note this is a resource, not a statement)<\/h2>\n

As you prepare your syllabi, the AI Task Force would like to share with you a resource<\/a> containing syllabus statements for different levels of AI use (from no use to robust use), as well as statements related to AI ethics, instructor use, misuse, and close critical study. The Task Force encourages everyone to include an AI statement in their syllabus to clarify AI use\/non-use expectations for students and to begin discussions about this emerging technology in class. You’re encouraged to use, modify, and remix this content in any way that supports your teaching.<\/em><\/p>\n

As we move forward, we want a wide range of perspectives about AI at the table. If you’re enthusiastic about AI integration or skeptical, please contact Provost Stanley to get involved.<\/em>

Voting in elections<\/h2>\n

If you\u2019re eligible to vote for local, state, and national elections in the United States, I encourage you to do so. In this class, we aspire to the same standards of academic freedom, critical inquiry, and free expression adopted by the faculty of St. Olaf College (link here<\/a>). Libraries and Information Technology Services (LITS) provides resources and access to technology in order to support your learning. Specialized computers, media equipment, and software are available in Halvorson Music and Rolvaag Memorial Libraries (RML). If you would benefit from personalized support you can consult with technologists and student interns at the <\/span>Digital Scholarship Center at St. Olaf<\/span><\/a> (DiSCO), which is located on the 4th floor of RML. <\/span><\/p>\n
