Thanks for choosing study travel with St. Olaf. Whether you’re a current traveler or considering joining us, we’re grateful you’re part of our community and we want to keep you up to date on Alumni & Family Travel decisions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Programs from April through September 2020 have been canceled; several will be rescheduled for the future. Please see our Destinations page for more information.
Updated June 8, 2020
Go/No-Go decisions will be made on a program-by-program basis. During the COVID-19 pandemic, 0ur policy is that programs will be canceled under the following circumstances:
- The U.S. State Department and CDC have a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory in place.
- A country is raised to a Level 3 status by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) or the U.S. State Department.
- The destination has a ban against foreigners entering the country.
- Airlines suspend flights to the program location.
- If the program partner chooses to close the program.
- If for health, safety, or other compelling reasons the college determines that a modification or cancellation of the program is appropriate.
If any of these criteria are met, St. Olaf will be in touch with the tour operator and travelers regarding canceling the program and providing refunds or postponing the program to a future date. We have no set date by which final decisions will be made, as the situation can change at any time.
If a program is still scheduled to proceed and you decide to cancel due to concerns about the coronavirus, the Payment and Refund Schedule for your program will apply. If circumstances later change and St. Olaf ends up cancelling the entire program and other travelers are eligible for refunds, we will retroactively refund anyone who previously canceled because of concerns about coronavirus.
You should monitor communications from the airline operating your flights to and from the program for any potential cancellations, schedule changes, or re-routing.
Additionally, if you do other travel prior to attending an Alumni and Family Travel program, the program partner may have prohibitions or restrictions on your boarding or participation. If this is a potential issue, we encourage you to obtain information about restrictions prior to travel.
Health and safety protocols will be communicated for programs that we do feel we’re able to run, as departure approaches.
St. Olaf continues to monitor this very fluid situation and is coordinating with leadership on campus and program partners. Your health and safety are of highest priority to us.
