June 10, 2013
St. Olaf College Professor of Statistics Julie Legler has been named a fellow with the American Statistical Association.
The ASA is the world’s largest and second oldest professional society in the United States, providing its members with up-to-date, useful information about statistics.
Individuals are nominated for the honor of being a fellow by other members. To be selected, nominees must have an established reputation and have made outstanding contributions in some aspect of statistical work.
Legler joined the St. Olaf faculty in 2001 following eight years at the National Institutes of Health, where she did research in the areas of quality of life, research synthesis, multilevel models, and simulation modeling. She earned a B.A. and M.S. in statistics from the University of Minnesota and a doctorate in biostatistics at Harvard University.
Legler will be honored during the Joint Statistical Meetings awards ceremony this August in Montréal, Canada.
