More than an Ultimate Team, a Family

St. Olaf Vortex, the women’s ultimate team, has become an increasingly dominant force in recent years.

Vortex has competed at DIII championships multiple times, finishing 5th in 2014 and 2015, 3rd in 2016, and 7th in 2017 before winning the national championship in 2018. This last season, they won their conference and regional competition before taking third at nationals.

The team’s success on the field is fueled by the friendships they’ve developed.

“Vortex is more than just a sports team. It’s a family. It’s a community,” says 2018-19 Co-Captain Kaitlyn Mulhern.
