St. Olaf celebrates Homecoming and Family Weekend
St. Olaf College welcomed hundreds of families and alumni to campus October 8-10 to celebrate Homecoming and Family Weekend.
As the changing leaves provided a stunning backdrop in vibrant shades of red, yellow, and orange, Oles and families enjoyed music performances, athletic competitions, and the opportunity to share campus life together. The weekend was especially meaningful given that last year’s events had to be held virtually, and this was the first time St. Olaf music ensembles performed for guests on campus since the pandemic began. In addition to the St. Olaf Orchestra concert Saturday night — which included a collaboration with the St. Olaf Choir — the Family Weekend Concert featured music by the Manitou Singers, Norseman Band, St. Olaf Philharmonia, and Viking Chorus.
Another highlight of the weekend was the annual football game versus crosstown rival Carleton College. The Oles won, keeping possession of the Goat Trophy for the seventh-straight meeting in the series — and allowing the Oles to keep the eagle statue in Bridge Square turned to point toward St. Olaf.

Other highlights of the weekend include a 5K Ole Run/Walk, picnic, scavenger hunt, art exhibitions, theater performance, and tours highlighting everything from the ice arena to the Boe Chapel stained glass to the Natural Lands. In a Town Hall Gathering, President David R. Anderson ’74 shared a campus update. Watch the town hall below.
Thanks to all of the Oles and families who came home to the Hill! Um! Yah! Yah!
