Charles Hellie retired in June 1999 as a teacher. He served as treasurer for the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) of Minnesota (1999-2010). Currently, he is serving on the Education Minnesota Retired Board of Directors (2000-present), is President of the Retired Educators Association of Minnesota (REAM) (2008-2010), and is the REAM executive director (2010-present).
