Leonor Arrobas “Nino”

I am a Portuguese international student at St. Olaf College. As the eldest of seven children, I developed a strong sense of responsibility and patience from an early age. I am passionate about talking to people, learning from their stories, and understanding their life experiences. My ultimate goal is to be an active voice for change, especially in the field of mental health. My passion for mental health advocacy began when I witnessed a close friend struggle with mental health challenges but lacked the support they needed due to stigma and financial barriers. This experience opened my eyes to the deep disparities in mental health awareness and access, particularly in underprivileged communities. It was a turning point for me, and since then, I have been committed to creating a future where mental health resources are accessible to all. These are the values that I hope to bring to the NSM Team, continuing the work of those who have come before me, to make St. Olaf a more inclusive and welcoming space for all, in which students are encouraged to be creative, inclusive, and transformative, particularly in the STEM field.
