This is the inaugural Boldt luncheon-lecture of 2017 and the eighth installment of the Boldt Chair of Humanities Luncheon-Seminars on the History of the Book as a Material Object. The St. Olaf Kierkegaard librarians, Gordon Marino and Eileen Shimota, will offer a presentation on the history and mission of the Kierkegaard Library. Attendees may sign up for tours of the library after the luncheon-lecture. All members of the St. Olaf community are invited via RSVP to reece@stolaf.edu

This is the eleventh installment of the Boldt Chair of Humanities Seminars on the History of the Book as a Material Object. Melissa Sellew, Professor of New Testament at the University of Minnesota, will offer a presentation on ancient Greek texts on papyri and how “crowd-sourcing” the task of transcription has helped papyrologists bring some of these thousands of texts to publication. All members of the St. Olaf community are invited. An acquaintance with the ancient Greek alphabet would be helpful.

Tim Ternes, Director of the Saint John’s Bible and HMML Programming at the Hill Museum and Manuscript Library, Saint John’s University, will offer an illustrated presentation on the illuminations of the Saint John’s Bible. All members of the St. Olaf and Northfield communities are welcome.
