Vocation: The Continuing Journey, Rene Clausen ’74

October 30 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

All are welcome to join this talk by Ole Alum Rene Clausen ’74 about vocation.

St. Olaf’s current mission statement challenges students to explore “meaningful vocation” during their four years on the Hill. But what happens after graduation? How does the search for meaning and purpose evolve over a lifetime?

Join renowned composer and conductor René Clausen ’74 (conductor emeritus of The Concordia Choir) for a Virtual Talk exploring the concept of vocation as a lifelong journey.

About René Clausen:

A St. Olaf alumnus, René Clausen has achieved international acclaim for his “eloquent” and “thought-provoking” musical compositions. His works, known for their dramatic and emotional depth, range from choral cantatas like A New Creation (featuring the beloved “Set Me as a Seal”) to large-scale oratorios like The Passion of Jesus Christ and the 9/11 tribute MEMORIAL.

Clausen’s career has not only been defined by his compositions but also by his masterful conducting. He has led renowned ensembles at Carnegie Hall in performances of Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem, and his own original works.

In this Lunch & Learn, you’ll:

Gain insights from René Clausen’s personal journey of discovering and living out his vocation.

Explore how the concept of vocation extends beyond career to encompass all aspects of life.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from a St. Olaf legend and gain valuable perspectives on the lifelong pursuit of vocation.
