2024 Olaf W. and Juta R. Millert Memorial Speaker - Robert Krueger

Olaf W. and Juta R. Millert Memorial Speaker Series in Psychology, founded in 2010, supports the annual lecture at St. Olaf College and was created by Professor Emeritus Olaf Millert in memory of his wife of 46 years, Juta.

In this talk, Dr. Robert Krueger will speak about that there is substantial recent interest in working to understand the empirical structure of psychopathology, as a way of remedying the limitations inherent in authoritative approaches to understanding psychopathology, such as those embodied in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).  The empirical approach to psychopathology classification (embodied in approaches such as those undertaken by the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology Consortium; HiTOP) reveals structures that are consistent and replicable.
