Vogue Workshop led by Jason’s Apprentice Jose Telfar

April 12 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Students are welcome to attend a Vogue Workshop led by Jason’s Apprentice Jose Telfar at the Center for Arts and Dance Room 300. Registration is required HERE. In this workshop, participants will be focusing on the last of the three styles of Vogue; Vogue Fem. Vogue Fem has been influenced by black trans women. It is a highly stylized dance while showcasing femininity in its purest form. Introduced and developed in the early 90s, Vogue Fem is about breaking the line and storytelling in any way, shape, or form. We will be focusing on the 5 elements of Vogue: Hands Performance, Catwalk, Duckwalk, Floor Performance, Spins & Dips. Our main goal for this class is to get comfortable with the technicality of Vogue fem, honoring the blueprints that shaped the dance form by their movement qualities and signature styles, and to have FUN.

Carleton College Gender and Sexuality Center in collaboration with the Taylor Center invite students to participate in a Voguing and Ballroom Series featuring Jason Rodriguez from the Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated series Pose. The series takes place on April 11–12, with various dance workshops, Pose episode viewing and conversation with Jason, and MinBall: Once Upon a Shiz Fairytale Fantasy. Learn more here.
