A little more information: What’s our public purpose in higher education? What’s our responsibility in higher education for supporting participatory democracy? How might we infuse our courses with civic skills and mindsets to be prepared civic professionals in the world? These are a few of the guiding questions that Alyssa Melby, Program Director for Academic Civic Engagement, will share in a kick-off breakfast for the Practicing Democracy Learning Community. At the breakfast, discuss these questions and dive into resources, like the Practicing Democracy toolkit by Nicholas V. Longo, before finding out about opportunities to continue your exploration of this topic in smaller learning communities throughout the upcoming year.
