On September 1st, 2015 St. Olaf welcomed 79 new students hailing from nearly 40 different countries around the globe. For three days, students attended presentations and activities on life in the U.S. and on The Hill, facilitated by over 50 student, staff, and faculty volunteers. Activities ranged from campus tours, to small group discussions, and included a scavenger hunt to Downtown Northfield and shopping at the Mall of America. Students noted that coming early to campus helped them feel more comfortable during Week One orientation – especially if it was their first time outside their home country – and less overwhelmed when campus became flooded with the entire First-Year class.
Congratulations to all new students that survived the intense schedules of both Week Zero & Week One! A special thanks also goes out to our International Student Counselors, who played a key role in making sure orientation ran seamlessly and smoothly.
