Africa and the African Diaspora Concentration

Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will:

1. understand Africa’s cultural, political and economic contributions to the Americas, using tools of inquiry that privilege African philosophical thought.
2. appreciate the place of people of African descent in the diaspora.
3. demonstrate an understanding of Africa in the American experience, and the transnational experience of African people from slavery through Apartheid, Colonialism and neo-colonialism.
