Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will demonstrate:

  1. knowledge of western civilization–that is, a knowledge of central artistic literary, philosophical, religious (biblical and theological)–movements in the tradition.
  2. growth and development in critical thinking, progressing from an ability to interpret texts and artistic works to being able to analyze and evaluate them.
  3. the ability to write in clear, effective prose.
  4. the ability to communicate in small groups and in formal presentations (such as debates, speeches, orations, etc.)
