Jo Beld is Vice President for Mission and Professor of Political Science at St. Olaf College. Her responsibilities include serving as executive liaison to the college’s board of regents, serving as the college’s accreditation liaison officer, and overseeing the Lutheran Center for Faith, Values, and Community, the College Ministry office, and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment. She is also project director for “Nourishing Vocation,” St. Olaf’s five-year initiative to strengthen congregational thriving funded by Lilly Endowment Inc., and serves on St. Olaf’s Council on Equity and Inclusion. Jo has worked with a broad array of organizations, colleges, and universities on teaching, learning, assessment, and governance, such as the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), the Association of Governing Boards (AGB), the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), Mount Holyoke College, Harvey Mudd College, the University of Puerto Rico–Mayaguez, the University of Arizona–Tucson, and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Jo received her undergraduate degree from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota and completed her Ph.D. at Yale University.
