Matthew Marohl serves as St. Olaf College Pastor, leading a four-person team that provides worship, pastoral care, and spiritual nurture for the St. Olaf community, including its student congregation (ELCA). Prior to his appointment at St. Olaf, Matt served as a faculty member at Augustana College and as a pastor to congregations in Iowa and Illinois. Among his publications are Faithfulness and the Purpose of Hebrews: A Social Identity Approach (Pickwick Publications, 2008) and Unexpected New Life: Reading the Gospel of Matthew (Cascade Books, 2012). Matt is also a member of the steering committee for the St. Olaf Conference on Worship, Theology, and the Arts. A native of North Dakota, he earned a B.A. from Concordia College (Moorhead), an M.Div. from Luther Theological Seminary, an M.Th. from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, and a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies (New Testament) from the University of St. Andrews (Scotland), where he also taught and served as a pastor.
