MinnPost features new Political Awareness Committee blog
The academic year has barely begun, but a new blog by St. Olaf College’s Political Awareness Committee (PAC) has already had several of its posts picked up by MinnPost.
The blog, dubbed the PoliticOle, functions as a forum for students of all backgrounds and majors to engage in conversation about current political issues.
“The PoliticOle works as a supplement to the events we have; it allows people to discuss politics through another medium,” PAC Coordinator Rachel Palermo ’15 says. “We didn’t anticipate that the blog would begin to receive readers from across the state and the globe.”
Within a few weeks of the blog’s launch, MinnPost, an online newspaper focused on providing high-quality journalism, republished four of the PoliticOle’s posts on topics ranging from the conflict in Syria to political rhetoric surrounding women’s issues.
“We want the blog to be accessible and full of thoughtful, concise articles that represent how students and members of the St. Olaf community really feel about topical issues,” says the blog’s editor, Martin Raabe ’14. “The blog has really gained momentum this summer, which we are all thrilled about.”
