St. Olaf Band to tour northern Minnesota
The St. Olaf Band, conducted by Henry L. Dorn, will perform throughout northern Minnesota in late January and early February.
The band’s 2025 national tour will feature concerts in Hibbing, Cloquet, Grand Rapids, Ely, and Virginia. This journey across the Iron Range marks the second tour led by Dorn, who joined the music faculty at St. Olaf College in the fall of 2023.
This tour’s program will feature works for concert band that center around the theme of “Resilience,” including music by Tchaikovsky, Travis Cross ’99, Timothy Mahr ’78, Henry Dorn, Shuying Li, and more.
“It would be my hope that the audience can sense the amount of pride that our ensemble members take into the work they do on stage,” Dorn says. “The St. Olaf Band works really diligently to deliver a musical experience and take our audiences on a sonic journey.”
Along with this tour of northern Minnesota, the St. Olaf Band has the distinct honor of performing at the 2025 National Conference of the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA). The conference takes place in Fort Worth, Texas, in March, where the St. Olaf Band will also perform additional concerts in the community. More information about this opportunity will be shared in the near future.
